On March 23, 2004, The Gap, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the Board of Directors elected Jorge P. Montoya to serve as a director of the Company and that Charles Schwab will not stand for re-election as a Director at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders in May 2004. A copy of this press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
