GOL Launches Daily Flights to Marabá, in Pará
São Paulo, April 2, 2007 – GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (NYSE: GOL and Bovespa: GOLL4), Brazil’s low-cost, low-fare airline, yesterday completed the first flight to its 57th destination, Marabá, in the state of Pará. GOL currently flies to 48 cities in Brazil and eight international destinations.
The new daily flight to Marabá departs from Brasília at 9:40 PM and arrives in Marabá at 11:30 PM. The new route makes its final stop in Belém, Pará’s capital. “GOL offers quality air transportation at the lowest fares, making air transportation accessible to everyone. We believe that offering service to Marabá will further promote the region’s development,” says Tarcisio Gargioni, GOL’s Vice President of Marketing and Services.
The main city of Pará’s southeast region, Marabá is home to the world’s largest mineral reserves, producing manganese, iron, cassiterite, gold and copper. The city also has reserves of non-metallic minerals, including pebble, sand, clay and quartz, as well as semi-precious stones, such as amethyst. Iron is the city’s primary industry, with eight factories dedicated to the production of iron and its derivatives.
