Re:
UST Sequence Number: 888, Application of Participation in the Troubled Asset Relief Program Capital Purchase Program Under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008
Dear Director Schaffner:
This letter is a request to withdraw from consideration United Bancshares, Inc.s (the Company) application for participation in the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury) Troubled Asset Relief Program Capital Purchase Program (the CPP).
At the Companys annual meeting of shareholders held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, the proposal to amend the Companys Articles of Incorporation to authorize the issuance of a new class of preferred stock did not receive the requisite vote of two-thirds of the shareholders necessary for passage. Without this amendment, the Company is not authorized to issue the preferred stock necessary to consummate a transaction with Treasury under the CPP. As a result, we respectfully request to withdraw the Companys application from Treasurys consideration.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or Brian Young at (419) 659-2141 if you have any questions regarding this request.
Respectfully,
/s/Daniel W. Schutt
