Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (the "Registrant") is unable to file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the "Commission"), without unreasonable effort or expense, its annual report on Form 20-F for the year ended December 31, 2017 (the "Annual Report") by April 30, 2018, the prescribed due date for such filing. Additional time is needed for the Registrant to complete its consolidated financial statements and assessment of internal control over financial reporting for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2017. The Registrant does not expect to file the Annual Report within the 15 calendar days following the prescribed due date, but is using its best efforts to finalize its financial statements and file its Annual Report with the Commission as soon as practicable.

As indicated in the press release, included as Exhibit 99.1 to the Registrant's Report on Form 6-K furnished to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on March 7, 2018, the Registrant preliminarily reported an unaudited net loss of $29.3 million in 2017, in comparison to net income of $51.9 million in 2016, as a result of, among other things, challenging bunker market conditions and non-recurring expenses. The financial information set forth in the aforementioned press release consists of preliminary unaudited results, which will not be final until the Registrant files its audited financial statements in the Annual Report.
