The Internet's Most Famous Theme Park Comes to an End

Comedy writer Jason Ginsburg finally closes the gates on @FakeThemePark

NEW YORK, NY, December 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After more than 11 years of daily posts on Twitter and Facebook, comedy writer Jason Ginsburg is ending his popular @FakeThemePark account. The final posts will appear on March 5, 2022.

Ginsburg started the account in 2010, after almost a decade as a tour guide at Universal Studios Hollywood. The fictional @FakeThemePark, never named or given a precise location, is a satire of Universal Studios, Six Flags, SeaWorld, and the Disney parks.

The project has earned rave reviews from theme park blogs and podcasts around the country. The Orlando Sentinel declares it "sharp and on the nose," while Frommer's deems it "hilarious." It has been called "magically funny" (MiceChat), "a comedy miracle" (Season Pass Podcast), and "the best roasts of the theme park industry" (LAist).

"I love bringing laughs to fans and employees of parks all over the world," said Ginsburg. "But after almost 12 years of satirizing these famous attractions on a daily basis, I can now state with certainty there is no money in it."

As "fake" and insider Twitter profiles were popular when Ginsburg started the account, he kept it anonymous for years. He never revealed his name or even his location to the podcasters and journalists who interviewed him. When he finally revealed himself in 2017, the event was covered by the Orlando Sentinel.

Under his own name, Ginsburg co-wrote two comedy songs and produced a music video for his parody of Disney princess anthems. He also released two books that combined his most popular posts with original content.

Jason Ginsburg worked at Universal Studios Hollywood for nearly ten years. In addition to presenting the world-famous Studio Tour, he also gave VIP tours, hosted the Backdraft attraction, made announcements at the front gate, and played a paleontologist at the Jurassic Park ride. He studied film and theatre at the University of Southern California, pursuing a career as an actor and writer while working at the park.

Ginsburg now lives in New York and works in television. He has written and produced comedy videos for National Lampoon, Playboy, Home Shopping Network, Animal Planet, and Science Channel. His first produced feature film, The Sorcerer Beast, stars Corey Feldman and Jeffrey Combs, and will be released in 2022.

Jason Ginsburg will be available for interviews as the clock ticks down on the world's most bizarre attraction. "@FakeThemePark has witnessed big events in the theme park industry, from the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to the worldwide closures of the pandemic," he said. "I would love to share these stories before the fun comes to an end."
