Purchase of 100 MW Accelerates Home Depot's Alternate Energy Goal of 335 MW

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: The Home Depot

DESCRIPTION:

This Earth Day, The Home Depot is 100 megawatts (MW) closer to securing 335 MW of alternative or renewable energy by 2025.

National Noble Grid Renewables begins construction on a new 275 MW Noble Solar Project facility in Denton County, Texas. The Home Depot has signed a power purchase agreement for 100 MW of the facility’s renewable energy, which is expected to be operational in 2022.

“Our partnership with Noble Grid Renewables reinforces our commitment to reduce our impact by continually improving the efficiency of our operations and expanding investments in renewable and alternative energy,” says Ron Jarvis, chief sustainability officer at The Home Depot.

Last year, The Home Depot also announced the purchase of 75 MW from Enel Green Power's new hybrid Azure Sky Solar facility opening in Haskell County, Texas in 2021. Shortly after, the company secured a second alternate energy purchase of 50 MW from Invenergy’s Samson Solar Energy Center due to open in 2023 as the largest solar power plan in the U.S.
