South African Government In Talks With Black American Leader Regarding Diaspora Observer Membership In The African Union

South African Government In Talks With Black American Leader Regarding Diaspora Observer Membership In The African Union
African Americans spend $1.6 trillion annually, which is larger than the economies (GDP) of all but 16 countries on Earth.
Black American leader seeks to strengthen ties with Africa by gaining observer status for the African diaspora in the West. The move will result in hundreds of billions of dollars flowing to African nations while creating huge opportunities for African entrepreneurs in the West.

African American Black economics expert, columnist, and national security expert Jerome Almon has proposed Black Americans be given observer status at the 55 member African Union (AU) in direct talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's top aide. The AU is charged with managing the African continent and its population of 1.4 billion inhabitants. The proposal concentrates on greatly increasing economic, political, and cultural cooperation that will lead to thousands of new millionaires, and dozens of new billionaires created in Africa and among the African diaspora in America, Canada, Europe, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. The blueprint also creates the opportunity for and funds millions of new businesses for African entrepreneurs globally. According to the White House President's Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States, announced by Vice President Kamala Harris, and the United Nations Forum On People of African Descent, there are 350 million members of the African diaspora. The two entities cite that the largest populations are in Brazil and the United States with 55 million and 46 million respectively. An online petition has been started with the goal of 1 million signatures and a $1 million donation to the African Union (https://www.change.org/supportSouthAfricainbarringIsraelofromAfricanUnionmembership).

The plan was first proposed by Mr. Almon in a series of interviews in the US and Africa in 2015 with media outlets such as Ventures Africa, Atlanta Black Star, Pan African Visions, and the Habari network. Due to a recent conflict within the African Union between Israel and South Africa concerning Israel's status as a member of the body and the Kanye West controversy, the opportunity for African Americans to fill the vacant spot became available. Due to Mr. Almon's extensive experience in working with African leaders and projects such as the top aide of the President of Sierra Leone during the 2013 Ebola crisis, the head of the Toronto, Canada African National Congress delegation as a college student in Detroit, Michigan, in the 1980's and 1990's, and as a columnist and advisor to several African publications. The blueprint was designed to bringĀ  full African diaspora support for the Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want economic and infrastructure project initiated by the African Union.

According to media outlets such as MSNBC and Nielsen recently released articles detailing the economic power of African Americans, pegging African American consumer spending at $1.6 trillion. According to the CIA's World Factbook, African Americans would be the 17th wealthiest country on Earth as a nation out of the 228 it ranks by GDP (gross domestic product), putting Black Americans ahead of countries such as Saudi Arabia and Australia. According to the Selig Center at the University of Georgia, African Americans have an economy (GDP) larger than the country of Canada, and would rank #15 in the world with all economic power factored in. Mr. Almon notes that not only are African Americans the wealthiest Blacks on Earth, Black Americans are among the wealthiest people on Earth, with their consumer spending being larger than the entire economies (GDP) of Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway combined. The three economic powerhouses are consistently listed in the top five countries with the best standard of living by outlets such as the World Population Review, US News and World Reports, and Travel.com. African Americans also donate disproportionately to charity according to a 2012 Reuters article which showed that Black Americans donated $11 billion to charity, but received little to nothing in return for our largesse (the amount is now $20 billion).

The complete proposal will be released in the coming week, detailing the opportunities for Africa, African Americans, and the African diaspora in the areas of economics, finance, entertainment, sports, media, entrepreneurship, travel, industry, and culture. A major component of the proposal is in the movie industry. The proposal cites that African Americans make or break the Hollywood and North American film industry due their disproportionate purchases of movie tickets and the trend setting influence that they have with the rest of America and global population, and the fact that Nollywood in Nigeria is consistently ranks as the #1 or #2 movie producing company on Earth ahead of Hollywood at #3. Nollywood is also second in revenue at $6.4 billion in annual revenue, slightly behind Hollywood's $7.5 billion. The proposal would see African Americans engage in joint ventures with Nollywood, and greatly increase investment in the South African movie industry, resulting in African and African American ownership of dozens of movie and television studios in both South Africa, America, and Europe. The proposal notes that although African American consumer spending increased by $100 billion in 2022 from 2021, the networth of African Americans went down. The proposal cites the reason behind the dip as being the lack of ownership, and initiates specific actions to greatly increase African American ownership in the restaurant, professional sports, entertainment, tech, financial, medical, and housing industries.
