Dr. Monif M. Matouk to Present His Debut Novel Sons of Abraham at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024

Frankfurt, Germany - October 17, 2024 - Dr. Monif M. Matouk, a dedicated foot and ankle surgeon, will quietly step into a new role this October as an author at the Frankfurt Book Fair, where he will humbly introduce his debut novel, Sons of Abraham. The book is a heartfelt exploration of faith, love, and the human connections that transcend religious and political divides. The book gallery event will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024, as part of the fair, which runs from October 16 to October 20, 2024. Dr. Matouk will be located at Booth Hall 6.0 | Stand C2, under the representation of Citi of Books.

Dr. Monif M. Matouk to Present His Debut Novel Sons of Abraham at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024

In Sons of Abraham, Dr. Matouk tells the story of Fadi, a young Lebanese Muslim, and Layla, a Christian woman, whose love is tested by the complex religious and political struggles in the Middle East. Set against the backdrop of the Lebanese Civil War and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the novel follows their journey as they grapple with faith, loss, and the search for meaning. At its core, the book is a reflection on the shared questions of faith that arise in Muslim, Christian, and Jewish traditions, offering readers a thoughtful perspective on the power of love and spiritual growth.

For Dr. Matouk, who has spent much of his life dedicated to healing others through his medical practice, writing this book has been a deeply personal and spiritual journey. “The book is really just a humble attempt to explore the questions of faith that many of us carry in our hearts,” says Dr. Matouk. “It’s my hope that readers will find something in Fadi and Layla’s story that resonates with their own experiences of love, loss, and faith.”

A Quiet Step onto the Global Literary Stage

While Dr. Matouk is better known for his work in podiatric surgery, his participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair represents a significant, though understated, moment in his career. As one of the world’s largest gatherings of literary minds, the fair will allow him to share his thoughts on faith and love with a global audience. Although dr. Matouk has authored many works in classical Arabic poetry, this is his first novel published in the English language.

The themes of Sons of Abraham—understanding, compassion, and the quest for faith—are ones that Dr. Matouk feels strongly about, both as a doctor and as an individual. His hope is that his story will inspire readers to see beyond their differences and recognize the shared humanity that unites us all.
