Last spring’s event helped find homes for 1,142 pets; this fall Petsense by Tractor Supply is building upon that momentum with a goal to place 1,200 dogs and cats into loving homes.

“Our Adoptathons are such a great way to connect with our communities and make a real difference for shelter animals looking for their forever families,” said Matthew Rubin, divisional president of Petsense by Tractor Supply. “We’re all about supporting the communities where we live and work. The opportunity to help these pets find loving homes is one of the best parts of what we do out here.”

According to recent reports from the ASPCA, approximately 6.3 million animals enter U.S. shelters each year, with many waiting for months to find a home. Shelters Animals Count recently reported that in the first half of 2024, 3,118,000 dogs and cats entered shelters nationwide. Events like the semiannual Adoptathon help reduce the time animals spend in shelters, increase adoption rates and contribute to the overall well-being of shelter pets.

Customers who attend the Adoptathon can expect:

  • Local animal shelters and rescue groups on site with dogs and cats eligible for adoption.
  • Other adoptable small and specialty animals at certain stores.
  • Perks for those who adopt animals, including a goody bag filled with fun giveaways and special coupons to save on supplies, services and food as a new pet parent.

Petsense by Tractor Supply partners with local rescues and shelters year-round to re-home thousands of cats through its in-store SavAPet centers. To date, the company has saved over 186,788 pet lives through adoption. Those interested in adopting their own pet can visit their local Petsense by Tractor Supply store or go to www.Petsense.com for more information. Adoption events vary by location; please contact your local Petsense by Tractor Supply store for more details.
