New Children's Book, "Calvinetta: The Star Struck Cow," Offers a Unique Perspective on Nativity Story

Author Marcia Morris shares the Christmas story from the perspective of the animals that were present in the stable where Jesus was born in her new children's book, "Calvinetta: The Star Struck Cow." The book, which falls under children's literature, Christmas literature, and religious literature, is now available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The story follows a cow named Calvinetta. She is the leader of the animals of the stable. She learns of the impending arrival of Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus. Initially resistant to making room for the humans, Calvinetta has a change of heart when she notices a mysterious star hovering over the stable. She and the other animals quickly work to make the space warm and comfortable for Mary to give birth to Jesus, expressing gratitude after the miracle is complete.

Author Marcia Morris, a retired nurse and full-time community volunteer, has long been interested in sharing the Nativity story from a unique perspective. "I wanted to tell the story of Christmas from the viewpoint of the animals who were present in the stable," Morris explained. "Children will love seeing the familiar story in a new way, and parents and caregivers will appreciate the book's message of kindness, generosity, and gratitude."

Illustrator Lee Bauman enjoyed making the imaginative words of this story come to life through whimsical illustrations and starry skies. A life-long artist, Lee was inspired from her experiences on her grandmother’s farm. She remembered the dairy cattle and a wide variety of kittens waiting for drops of milk in the barn. The animals depicted are full of personality. Her imaginative paintings showed how the mood of animals may change when something unexpected happens in their home barn.

"Calvinetta: The Star Struck Cow" is already receiving rave reviews from early readers, with one Amazon reviewer writing, "This book is amazing! It is so wonderful to see the Nativity story from a new perspective. The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is heartwarming and inspiring. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a unique and meaningful addition to their holiday book collection."

Another reviewer wrote a review on Amazon, "A Christmas story from the point of view of animals is bound to have great appeal to children. Any child who has visited a manger scene pictures animals present at the Christ child's birth. Exploring the animal’s antics before the birth and then Calvinetta's epiphany with the message of the star, this retold birth story will delight children and adults alike. The story is fun and imaginative; the illustrations are beautiful works of art."
