Online Business Building: Earning Supplemental Income Outside of a Traditional Job

Cayme Andrea has always wanted to help others succeed — both in business and in life. As a leadership coach, she helps equip those in business to become more effective leaders. Andrea likes her work but doesn’t enjoy the fact that she only gets paid for her time providing a service. When she’s not working, she’s not earning money. Knowing that starting a traditional brick-and-mortar business was not currently affordable for her family, Andrea wanted to find an online business-building opportunity that allowed her to earn money when she was not coaching.

“As a business owner, it’s really important to have a business that pays for itself. And in a traditional business, you’re in business for three, four, sometimes five years before you turn a profit,” said Andrea.

Many new businesses don’t even get that far. In fact, 18% of all new businesses fail within the first year, and by the fifth year, that percentage goes up to 50%.1 For most established franchise opportunities available, the startup cost can range from $10,000 all the way up to $5 million.2 Andrea was looking for a business that she herself could start with a business plan that had already been a proven success for at least 10 years. She also needed a starting cost much lower than $10,000. What Andrea found was the Market America UnFranchise® Business System.

The UnFranchise Business has no franchise fees, no monthly overhead costs and no territorial restrictions. It’s neither a multilevel marketing nor a competitive business model. An UnFranchise Owner initially pays $149.95 the first year and may renew each new year for $119.95 to continue their UnFranchise Business. Andrea pointed out that while her UnFranchise Business is now two years old, Market America’s UnFranchise Business System has been in place worldwide for more than 30 years.

When it comes to how UnFranchise Owners earn money, rather than selling one product, Market America has a variety of products in several categories such as health & wellness, weight management, beauty, skincare, jewelry, pet care, auto care, personal care and more. On top of exclusive Market America products, UnFranchise Owners receive access to SHOP.COM, a global e-commerce site, where their customers can purchase almost anything they are looking for from well-known stores such as Nike, Gap, Old Navy, JC Penney, Target, Walmart and more while earning Cashback on their everyday purchases.

“When I was given the opportunity to partner with Market America and the UnFranchise Business System, I realized that this is a system that I can also partner with nonprofits, with individuals who are driven and ambitious and want more for life, and I can show them how they can achieve [a] greater impact. And by helping them, I get to be successful, and I get to reach some of my own dreams in a way that I don’t have to be tied behind a desk, behind a computer 24/7, as you do in a traditional job where you’re trading time for money,” said Andrea.

In her first year, Andrea set aside about eight to 15 hours per week to build her UnFranchise Business. She quickly discovered that an UnFranchise Business is still a business. If she wanted to earn a supplemental income, she would need to dedicate time to following the System.

“I saw money that I forfeited. I even missed out on two checks by not treating this as a business and following the system. You have to treat the UnFranchise Business as you would any business. Lesson learned,” said Andrea.

An average day for Andrea includes managing her coaching business and connecting with her UnFranchise Team. Andrea found Market America’s UnFranchise Business System and focused on collaboration and team building — not competition. This approach proved to be less stressful and more appealing to how she wanted to build a business. Better yet, she has been able to sell Market America–exclusive products that aren’t available anywhere else while also allowing her customers to shop on her e-commerce site to purchase everyday needs from thousands of well-known national stores.

“To know that I can control the time I invest toward my online business building,” said Andrea, “while also being able to book time each week to spend with my wife and daughter, gives me a lifestyle that maximizes my expertise in the business world and positions me to build a legacy for my family.”
