Jacksonville Securities, Investment Fraud Lawyer, FINRA Representation Announced

Jacksonville residents who believe they have been defrauded by a broker can now find an ally in an acclaimed law firm specializing in FINRA arbitration.

The Soreide Law Group has announced a new expansion to Northeast Florida, now offering suspected fraud victims legal representation on a contingency basis. In particular, the move is expected to benefit seniors, a demographic group that has shown vulnerability to common fraud tactics, according to statistics.

In 2022, the FBI reported that elder fraud increased by 84% between 2021 and 2022, with total losses amounting to $3.1 billion during the period. In an earlier report, the AARP estimated that $120,000 is lost on average per victim of financial abuse.

“While anyone can fall victim to scams perpetuated by stock brokers and financial advisors, seniors are historically the most vulnerable demographic,” a spokesperson from the Soreide Law Group said. “This is why we are embarking on a massive campaign to inform victims about a recourse that might offer them a way to recover their losses.”

The Soreide Law Group specializes in FINRA arbitration, a process that can resolve securities-related disputes without the need to go to court. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or FINRA, is a self-regulating body that oversees brokerage firms and the securities industry as a whole and can also act as arbitrators to resolve disputes between brokers and individual investors.

According to the Soreide Law Group, arbitration offers a number of advantages in contrast to going to trial. “For one, the arbitrators who handle disputes are impartial, holding no vested interest in the outcome of the cases brought to them. Moreover, resolutions are reached more rapidly compared to the court system, and they are binding, meaning that they can be enforced by a court if needed,” the firm’s representative said.

They, however, added that because the panel hears arguments based on various securities acts and FINRA’s own rules, the expertise of an experienced securities lawyer will be indispensable.

The Soreide Law Group’s lead attorney, Lars Soreide, is a former FINRA member, an experience that equipped him with an in-depth understanding of the arbitration process. Owing to his accomplishments in this field of law, Mr. Soreide has been the recipient of multiple “super” lawyer awards and a Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, among many other distinctions.
