Self-Employed Tax Credit for Gig Workers: 2025 FFCRA Claim Assistance Announced

FINTITAN has announced claim assistance for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act program, helping sole proprietors and 1099 workers secure their SETC refund.

As the final deadline for the SETC (Self-Employed Tax Credit) program is approaching, FINTITAN now offers comprehensive eligibility, calculation, and claim assistance services to gig workers and independent contractors.

The deadline for 2020 tax periods passed on the 15th of April earlier this year, but it’s still possible to retroactively claim the SETC for 2021 tax periods until the 15th of April 2025.

The SETC is an extension of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which initially only focused on employers under the ERTC (Employee Retention Tax Credit) program. However, due to common misconceptions and the complexity of the application process, as many as 80% of self-employed workers are unaware that they are eligible.

FINTITAN offers a simple way to check qualifications and calculate the maximum refund while adhering to IRS regulations.

“We fully take care of amending your tax returns and submitting your application to the IRS, granting you valuable time to focus on what matters most - growing your business. We work for you, making it easier to work for yourself,” a company spokesperson said.

In a press release from July 2024, the IRS warned taxpayers about relying on marketers for tax advice, urging them to seek help from reputable professionals. The widespread issues with improper claims caused the IRS to issue a year-long moratorium on new claims until August 2024.

One common mistake was for self-employed workers to use Form 7202, Credits for Sick Leave and Family Leave for Certain Self-Employed Individuals, making the claim incorrect as the form is for those who earned income as an employee. By not being cautious with what tax company is employed, self-employed tax payers risk refund delays and potential audits.

FINTITAN has helped secure over $600 million in tax credits and COVID-related funding across hundreds of industries. Their user-friendly and secure platform makes it easy to start the eligibility exam and get the claim filed correctly with the IRS.

A client shared their experience of working with FINTITAN: “I knew about the FFCRA and tried to do it on my own, but you wouldn’t believe how difficult it was! I gave up and used FINTITAN instead and was kicking myself for not using it sooner. It was so fast and easy because it does everything for you!”
