Lighthouse Treatment Center Celebrates Red Ribbon Week by Engaging with High School Youth

Anaheim, California - The Lighthouse Treatment Center proudly celebrated Red Ribbon Week by connecting with the youth at El Dorado High School in Placentia, CA. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from the Lighthouse alumni, who volunteered to speak in classroom settings throughout the day, educating students on the risks and dangers associated with drug and alcohol use.

Lighthouse Treatment Center alumni shared their personal stories, offering insights into the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. This activity not only educated but also inspired students to make informed decisions regarding substance use. The event was part of a broader effort by the Lighthouse Treatment Center to help contribute in creating a safe and supportive environment for young people to learn and grow in the community.

Peter Davidson, President of the Lighthouse Treatment Center, commented on the significance of the event, saying, "Red Ribbon Week is a vital opportunity for us to reach out to the youth and reinforce the importance of staying drug-free. By sharing real-life experiences, we hope to empower these young individuals to lead healthy and productive lives. Our goal is to make a lasting impact that resonates beyond the classroom."

Lighthouse Treatment Center Alumni Takes Part in Red Ribbon WeekRed Ribbon Week is an annual event held during the last week of October, emphasizing the importance of living a drug-free life. By engaging communities in educational activities and awareness campaigns, it highlights the benefits of staying free from the influence of drugs and alcohol. It also provides an opportunity for communities, educators, and parents to come together and promote a drug-free lifestyle, reinforcing these messages throughout the year.

Tamara Jimenez, Community Relations Manager of the Lighthouse, highlighted the role of youth in the community. "Our young people are the future, and equipping them with the knowledge and tools to resist drug use is crucial. By choosing El Dorado High School, we aimed to promote a culture of awareness and resilience among students. We believe that these interactions can significantly shape their perceptions and decisions," Jimenez said.

Jimenez further explained the choice of El Dorado High School for this initiative, saying, "El Dorado is known for its proactive approach to student well-being. Partnering with them allows us to reach a receptive audience eager to learn and grow. We are committed to supporting their mission of nurturing informed and empowered students."

According to the United States National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, over 2 million teenagers aged 12 to 17 have abused drugs, while more than one million have engaged in binge drinking. These statistics highlight the pressing need for educational programs addressing substance use among youth. Preventive education and community support are important in promoting a drug-free lifestyle.

Alumni of Lighthouse Treatment Center at El Dorado High School Placentia, CABrittany Pedersen, a member of the Lighthouse alumni, shared her experience of speaking at the event. "I had an enlightening experience visiting the high school and sharing my experience, strength, and hope with these young adults. I loved how open-minded, welcoming, and polite they were. It was a great way to give back," stated Pedersen.

The Lighthouse Treatment Center remains committed to its mission of supporting individuals and communities in leading drug-free lives. Through ongoing community outreach and educational initiatives, it aims to create a positive impact and inspire change. As Red Ribbon Week concludes, the Lighthouse looks forward to continuing its work with schools and communities, ensuring that the message of hope and resilience reaches all corners.
