Snapchat Rolls-Out GenAI Features for Improved AR Experience

Snap Inc., Snapchat’s owner and parent company, has launched its latest advancements in augmented reality (AR) technology. The platform has introduced a GenAI suite that will empower users to experience more natural and innovative effects when making videos using the application.

According to Reuters Report, the new GenAI technology will enable Snapchat to create more realistic videos using AR-powered lenses by integrating digital elements into real-world images and videos.

With this new feature, creators can alter the surroundings in their reels, ensuring that the changes are automatically aligned with the light and colors while not making the video look fake. This on-device GenAI model is empowered with advanced GenAI algorithms that can effectively take text prompts to generate personalized lenses.

The company has also introduced more advanced Lens Studio, a sophisticated program designed particularly for artists and developers. This update will help them create AR features for the platform, other websites, and third-party apps. Snapchat’s CTO, Bobby Murphy said, “The improved Lens Studio will shorten the time needed to create AR effects from weeks to hours and enable the creation of more detailed designs.”

Snapchat users will soon be able to use this feature while the creators and developers can access this updated feature later this year.
