When is NAPLAN Testing in 2025? Dates and advice for parents

The 2024 school year may have just ended, but NAPLAN tests in 2025 is already front of mind for parents and teachers. Thanks to significant changes made to NAPLAN in 2023, the assessment is taking place much sooner than some parents may expect. Students in years 3, 5, 7, and 9 complete NAPLAN every year, as the test provides valuable insights into how students progress individually and as part of a larger cohort. With earlier NAPLAN 2025 dates on the calendar, parents and teachers can look forward to early results, and more time in the year to adjust if students aren’t on the right track. So, with seemingly less time up our sleeves, how can parents and students prepare for NAPLAN 2025?

Highlights

  • NAPLAN 2025 will be held from March 12 to March 24

  • Small habits can make a real difference to your child’s literacy and numeracy outcomes

  • Kinetic offers tutoring and practice tests for NAPLAN

2025 NAPLAN test dates and information

NAPLAN 2025 dates have been confirmed, and students will complete the assessment during term 1. Last year, NAPLAN saw some pretty big changes, from earlier test dates to a revamp of how results are reported. These adjustments to the yearly assessment come with hopes that earlier results will have a higher impact on teaching and learning programs for the rest of the year. NAPLAN 2025 will be held from March 12 to March 24, within 2 months of the school year starting. As NAPLAN is Australia-wide, NAPLAN 2025 dates will be the same across the nation.

Does my child need to prepare for NAPLAN?

So, with less time in the school year to prepare for NAPLAN 2025, will this be an issue for students? Not necessarily. NAPLAN aims to provide insights into how well students can learn the National Literacy and Numeracy curriculum and whether teaching methods are up to scratch. Hence, preparing for NAPLAN in the run-up to the test is not something that is focused on in the classroom. Teachers want to see how much students are absorbing what is taught and how capable they are at putting into practice what they have learnt.

Parents can focus on finding ways to support their child’s learning outside of school. Small habits can make a real difference in literacy and numeracy outcomes, as well as improve your child’s confidence in these areas. Things like reading to them and with them daily can make a huge difference to a child’s literacy skills. As well as revising what is learned in the classroom and helping them through their homework.

How can Kinetic Education help?

Aside from small changes at home, tutoring services like Kinetic Education can be a game changer. Good luck to all of the students participating in NAPLAN 2025

So as the new school year begins with NAPLAN 2025quickly approaching, let’s focus on how students can improve Numeracy and Literacy outcomes in the long term, not just for the upcoming assessment. As Literacy and Numeracy skills will play an important role in your child’s academic and professional life, we want to ensure our children have the best foundation to allow for growth. Although we all want to see our child do well on a test, we need to remember that NAPLAN also serves a greater purpose.
