Carbon RX Partners with Adroid to Innovate Reforestation with Autonomous Tree Planting Technology

Carbon RX

Regina, SK – August 8, 2024 TheNewswire – Carbon Rx Inc. (“Carbon RX”) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Adroid Corporation (“Adroid”) to commercialize a novel approach to tree planting. The MOU outlines the use of autonomous tree planting and artificial intelligence to increase the efficiency of reforestation and create carbon credits across Carbon RX hundreds of thousands of acres of Canadian forest lands under contract.

“We have a deep pedigree in regenerative agriculture where we successfully use machine learning to increase productivity and reduce carbon footprints,” says Carson Sinclair, Director of Origination, Carbon RX. “Transitioning to robotics in forestry allows us to apply efficient planting techniques with a low carbon footprint, aligning with modern forest management practices. This technology has the potential to generate significant carbon credits and supports the Canadian Government’s 2 Billion Tree program.”

According to the Government of Canada’s website, the 2 Billion Trees program aims to motivate and support new tree-planting projects. By 2031, up to $3.2 billion will be invested in tree-planting efforts to support provinces, territories, third-party organizations (for-profit and not-for-profit) and Indigenous organizations to plant two billion trees across Canada.

Vishal Gupta, Co-Founder of Adroid commented, “Our commitment to commercializing a robotic tree planter aligns with the growing need to establish healthy tree stands and the ability to bridge the labour shortage in the forestry industry as a whole.  This summer’s wildfire impacts will require vast amounts of forest to be repopulated. Our technology plans to offer high seedling survival rates as well as enhanced safety features for tree planting teams in remote parts of Canada.”

Based on data in the National Forestry Database, over 8,000 fires occur each year, and burn an average of over 2.1 million hectares.

The agreement is a non-binding MOU, whereby the two parties plan to test and validate the robotic forest planter, in addition to developing a modern carbon credit protocol, intended to generate carbon credits through the application of the Adroid robotic planter.
