Duke Energy adopts sustainability bond standards and gets nod from S&P Global

Charlotte-based Duke Energy has issued $2.3 billion worth of “green bonds” since 2018 to finance the expansion of solar power and battery storage. The broader “sustainability bonds” can finance green innovation, adapting to climate change, grid work to accommodate renewables and promote the company’s diversity and other social initiatives.
