Film producer and musician, Brittany Chrishawn, fights for justice and receives more award nominations after police broke her teeth for a crime she was not guilty of.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Dec. 10, 2021 - PRLog -- Award-winning filmmaker and producer, Brittany Chrishawn, was ironically brutalized by police after producing a film about police brutality. She was found not guilty after police trespassed on her property and broke her teeth. Now her fight for social justice continues through film as she receives new award nominations.
Atlanta Black Star mentions, "In 2019, months before her real-life drama, [Brittany Chrishawn] co-wrote, produced and appeared in a film about police brutality called 'Illville.' She's used her artistic expression as a way to cope. Now she's using it as a tool of empowerment to triumph over her wounds."
"Illville" had already received recognition from critically acclaimed festivals like the Flickers' Rhode Island International FF (2019) and the Festival International du Film Panafricain (2020) before Brittany Chrishawn's brutal attack by police. Since then, she received new nominations for not only "Illville", but another video she created to help her cope entitled "Question."
Brittany Chrishawn has nominations from The Taste Awards (2020) for "Illville", Mosaic World Film Festival (2021) for "Question, and Atlanta Urban Mediamakers Film Festival (2021) for "Question." She has also received an honorable mention for "Question" from Atlanta Urban Mediamakers.
"Question" is the music video to a song from "Illville's" original motion picture soundtrack which was coincidentally released on the same day Brittany was brutalized by police (May 13, 2020). During her recovery, she began to find herself lost in her thoughts from the trauma and created the video "Question" to symbolize the scrambled thoughts in her head. The video portrays how she pivoted her thoughts to focus on the love in her relationship in order to escape her current reality and heal.
