FarmerJawn Greenery Set To Officially Launch as Philadelphia’s Only Food-Focused Garden Center

Philadelphia-based food solutions provider, FarmerJawn, announces the official launch of their food-focused urban garden center to provide the necessary resources for people to grow their own food at home

Food insecurity remains a major challenge faced by millions of people across the globe, even in the most advanced nations. A recent report published by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) revealed that “nearly one in three people in the world (2.37 billion) did not have access to adequate food in 2020,” an increase of almost 320 million people in just one year. Over the years, several solutions and initiatives have been put in place to help mitigate the issue and make good food accessible to more peoplr in metropolitans. However, many of such solutions have failed to deliver the desired results, which is where FarmerJawn Greenery is looking to make a difference by encouraging urban farming and gardening, starting with the Philadelphia region.

The launch of FarmerJawn Greenery and home of Barfield’s tea company Viva Leaf Tea, located at 6730 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19119, is particularly laudable and timely, as Philadelphia is currently battling food insecurity with a majority of families working over 40 hours weekly without access to nutrient-rich food. The initiative is unique as it focuses on providing organic food growing options to families with or without space, saving them from the danger of consuming chemical-laden foods that are not only detrimental to the health of individuals but also harmful to the environment.

The FarmerJawn initiative also uses their platform to teach the nation’s next urban farmers through the works of their non-profit…increasing access of organic food to marginalized communities everywhere, delivering a win-win scenario to all. The food center will offer everything from seeds, veggie seedlings, soil, pots, fruit trees, knowledge and more to get any skill-level gardener ready for a successful growing season. Agriculture is the Culture!
