Screen Sanity Summit Helps Families Navigate No. 1 Battleground: Screentime

By: PRLog

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jan. 19, 2023 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, Screen Sanity and Resurrection, a United Methodist Church, will host the Screen Sanity Summit — a free, in-person and live-stream event that will bring together hundreds of Kansas City parents and caregivers to address one of today's most challenging parenting topics: screentime.

"Parents today are the first generation to raise digital natives — kids who've never known a world without the Internet or smartphones — and the responsibility can feel overwhelming," said Tracy Foster, Screen Sanity Co-founder and Executive Director. "The Screen Sanity Summit is an opportunity for parents and community members to learn healthy tech habits and gain strategies for mentoring kids in the digital world."

Open to the public, the Screen Sanity Summit will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Church of the Resurrection Leawood (13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224) and its five additional Kansas City-metro locations. Participants can also participate virtually via Zoom.

"As part of our commitment to supporting families, we are excited to not only host the Screen Sanity Summit but to open it to the public," said Resurrection Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton. "Technology holds the promise of enormous good, but when used without intention, it can harm our relationships and health. We are grateful to Screen Sanity for providing resources and trainings that help families maximize the benefits of technology, while minimizing the harmful side effects."

The Screen Sanity Summit will feature topics relevant for every age and stage of digital childhood, including screentime, online safety, smartphones, social media and more. The workshop Is designed for adults only; however, Resurrection will offer simultaneous children's programming at each location. Registration and additional details are located at www.cor.org/tech.

"Research continues to show that when tech goes unchecked, it negatively impacts kids," said Foster. "Our children need guidance and support, and we are pleased to partner with Resurrection and the Kansas City community to further this important cause."
