Int’l Consumption Carnival Launched in Chongqing’s CBD

Chongqing – The Third Jiefangbei International Consumption Carnival kicked off in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on May 6, with over 100 promotional activities and events, lasting two months.

At the carnival’s launch ceremony, Jiefangbei Central Business District signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Harper’s Bazaar, announcing cooperation on incubating Jiefangbei fashion IP, bringing in fashion brands, and releasing a fashion index.

Harper’s Bazaar presented a grand International Golden Street Show, which attracted the participation of Italian luxury brand Ermanno Scervino and Chinese advanced brand Purity Ring, the first time they came to Chongqing.

The Jiefangbei International Consumption Carnival is classified into four main segments: the International Golden Street Show, International Fashion Exhibition, Fashion Private Salon, and Jiefangbei All-Product Festival.

As Deng Guanghuai, Vice Mayor of the Yuzhong District, introduced at the press conference, the carnival focuses on promoting brand awareness, fostering international communication, and enhancing Jiefangbei’s business environment.

Deng said, ultimately, this will lead to the development of the core area of the international consumption center city and establish Jiefangbei as a globally recognized business district.

Based on the cooperation between Chengdu and Chongqing, the carnival has invited 12 consulate generals in Chongqing and Chengdu, including Singapore, Pakistan, Israel, the UK, Hungary, the Netherlands, etc., which will proceed with cultural promotion and showcase their national featured products to the public.

“We will deepen the cooperation with international exhibitors in trade and brand promotion to prosper Jiefangbei International Consumption Carnival and increasingly promote the awareness and influence of the Jiefangbei business circle,” said Deng.

Chongqing Times Square will present several art exhibitions during the carnival by cooperating with Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

Hollohaza, Hungary’s national treasure-class porcelain brand, and other internationally renowned brands will be showcased to citizens. The Asia CrossFit Championship will also be held in Jiefangbei, with its exclusive products being first released nationwide.

As learned, Yuzhong will invest 20 million yuan (about USD 2.89 million) in boosting consumption with 13 shopping malls involved, totaling over 1,000 merchants, directly benefiting local citizens and visitors.

Yuzhong District in central Chongqing plays a vital role in the city’s cultural and business development. Jiefangbei is a significant landmark of this district.

In 2020, Jiefangbei Walking Street was authorized into the first batch of National Demonstration Walking Street by China’s Ministry of Commerce. Over the past three years, Yuzhong has brought in hundreds of globally renowned brands, and built over 20 featured consumption scenarios, driving a prosperous Jiefangbei-Chaotianmen commerce circle.
