Not Your Daddy's Films Celebrates a Stellar Turnout at The Whitley in Historic Hollywood for a Night Honoring Women and Non-Binary Filmmakers

By: PRLog

LOS ANGELES - March 28, 2024 - PRLog -- This past Saturday on March 23, 2024, Not Your Daddy's Films, a social impact organization championing women and non-binary filmmakers through screenings, panels, a podcast, and various other initiatives, hosted an electric evening at The Whitley (also known as Club King King) in the heart of Hollywood. The event, which had eager attendees lined up all the way around the block before it opened, was the 9th edition in a series of short film showcases and after-parties by NYDF that celebrate vibrant and diverse voices in film.

Multi-talented filmmakers featured at the event included Shogun staff writer Maegan Houang with her short In Full Bloom; Megan Chumbley with Power Glow Diamond Infused Metallic Face Mask; Milana Vayntrub with Pickled Herring; Lucy Sandler with Hush; Olive Nwosu with EgĂșngĂșn; and Sam Fox with F'ckn Nuts.

Following the screening, the filmmakers took to the stage for a moderated Q&A session that gave the audience a glimpse into their artistic preferences and creative processes for the featured works. The energy from this candid exchange of ideas and experiences, combined with a curated music playlist and good vibes, carried the crowd into an after-party that went well into the night.

This gathering was more than just an event; it served as a space for individuals to unite in challenging patriarchal norms. The meaningful connections made at NYDF's events, and support garnered for women and non-binary filmmakers, will have a lasting impact on the film industry.

For those who missed out on this event, take heart: Not Your Daddy's Films is already gearing up for more.

"Remember, at NYDF, everyone is a Daddy, and the celebration of diverse voices in film is just getting started," shared the co-founders.

NYDF is more than just screenings and panels; it is a growing community that fosters true friendships and equal footing for all. Founded by Carlye Tamaren, Vika Stubblebine, Nicole Lipp, Katherine Hughes, and Kourtney Bell- Not Your Daddy's Films has quickly become a beacon of inclusivity and support within the film community, tripling its audience within a year, outgrowing two screening locations, and now partnering with distinguished organizations like American Cinematheque. The 20th-anniversary screening of Monster with director Patty Jenkins stands out among the organization's notable achievements. In addition, NYDF's recent partnership with SXSW for a unique women and non-binary-focused mixer has solidified its commitment to fostering growth and opportunity within the industry. As NYDF continues to expand, it remains dedicated to launching technical workshops, mentorship programs, and filmmaker grants to support the creative journeys of women and non-binary filmmakers.
