BRISBANE, CALIF. February 8, 2007 bebe stores, inc. (Nasdaq: BEBE) today reported retail sales of $47.7 million for the five-week period ended February 3, 2007, an increase of 35.5% compared to sales of $35.2 million for the four-week period ended January 28, 2006. Due to the 53rd week in fiscal 2007, January 2007 same store sales are based on the first four weeks of the five-week period. On this basis, same store sales for the four-week period ended January 27, 2007 increased 0.8% compared to an increase of 9.8% for January 2006.
Retail sales for the year-to-date period ended February 3, 2007 were $401.0 million compared to $330.0 million for the year-to-date period ended January 28, 2006, an increase of 21.5%. Same store sales for the year-to-date period ending January 27, 2007 increased 7.8% compared to an increase of 8.3% for the year-to-date period ending January 2006.
As of February 3, 2007 finished goods inventory per square foot was approximately 10.0% higher as compared to the prior year.
