          On March 4, 2005 DIMON Incorporated and Standard Commercial Corporation jointly issued a press release announcing, in connection with DIMON’s and Standard’s previously announced agreement to merge, proxy finalization and dates of special meetings to approve merger.  A copy of that press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1.
