NORTH LAKE, Wis. - March 18, 2022 - PRLog -- The Milwaukee section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) presented their 2021 "Science Kits For Public Libraries" (SKPL) grant to the Town Hall Library.
The SKPL grant from IEEE was created to promote library initiatives that exhibit captivating, STEM-related value with a goal to make science kits as accessible as a library book.
Town Hall Library is the fourth recipient of the IEEE Milwaukee SKPL grant. A grant program that started locally in 2019.
This $2,500 grant will fund "STEAM To Go!" science kits for checkout at the branch location. These will support exploration in electronics, software coding, robotics, green energy, magnetics, construction, and more.
"These hands-on materials will serve as a great introduction to the field of science and technology", said Chris Lambrou (Metro MLS CIO and IEEE Milwaukee vice-chair). "It also further strengthens the local library as the central source for essential activities".
Funding for the IEEE Milwaukee Science Kits for Public Libraries grant comes from generous donations within the Milwaukee area. Primary funding for this SKPL grant was graciously provided by Milwaukee Tool.
"We are honored to support the sustained growth of engineering in our community," said Andy Lambert (Director of Product at Milwaukee Tool).
"The entire IEEE Milwaukee executive committee would like to thank Kaushalya Iyengar and her team at Town Hall Libary for this exciting project." said Karthik Palaniappan, IEEE Milwaukee chair. "STEM learning tools should be available to everyone and we believe the local library is an important part of delivering this concept into a reality".
