Grant Thornton’s Tina Cooper named among Consulting magazine’s 2021 Women Leaders in Consulting

Cooper, a senior manager in the firm’s Public Sector practice, honored as a Diversity Champion

Tina Cooper, a senior manager in Grant Thornton LLP’s Public Sector practice, has been named to the 2021 Women Leaders in Consulting list by Consulting magazine. The award, which recognizes industry standouts and rising stars in the profession, honored Cooper as a “Diversity Champion.”

“Tina exemplifies true leadership in diversity and inclusion, and her commitment only deepened during a year marred by increases in anti-Asian violence,” said Carlos Otal, national managing partner of Grant Thornton’s Public Sector practice. “From her work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the U.S. government to serving as a diversity and inclusion champion at Grant Thornton, Tina makes the world a better, more inclusive place.”

Serving in a consulting leadership role at Grant Thornton, Cooper helps clients design programs that increase efficiency and improve safety and employee wellness. In addition to applying her strong technical acumen to help clients find cost savings, she is actively involved in a variety of diversity and inclusion efforts. Specifically, she supports a client task force with in-depth data analysis on gender and representation disparities within career specialties and levels.

Cooper also works to empower Pan-Asian professionals like herself. For the past three years, she has created career advancement programs and served as an executive vice president for the Greater Washington chapter of Ascend, the largest North American organization for Pan-Asian professionals. She also is heavily involved in Grant Thornton’s Pan-Asian Business Resource Group, helping colleagues develop the confidence and leadership skills that are crucial for success.

As a champion and supporter of women in the profession, Cooper often advises women on overcoming self-doubt.

“It’s so important for women to be confident in their work and have trust in their talent, abilities and what they have to offer in the workplace,” said Cooper. “There are so many incredible women in the consulting profession, and being recognized as a woman leader is a true honor. It’s also a reminder that women have so much to offer their workplaces, and they deserve to have their voices amplified at every possible opportunity. This award empowers me to keep honing my skills and going above and beyond for my clients and colleagues.”

“Grant Thornton always strives to invest in its talent and foster future leaders,” concluded Otal. “Recognition like this inspires us to keep doing exactly that.”

Consulting magazine presented the award at the 2021 Women Leaders in Consulting Awards Gala on Nov. 11 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.
