Empower and Stackhouse inked a multi-year sponsorship deal that kicks off in her home state of Georgia with the 2021 KPMG Women's PGA Championship in Atlanta June 24. Stackhouse teed off at 7:10 a.m. ET today wearing the Empower logo, which she will wear throughout the 2021, 2022 and 2023 LPGA Tour seasons.

“Mariah embodies the kind of dedication to craft that we admire and strive for at Empower,” said Edmund F. Murphy III, President and CEO of Empower. “She often speaks about her attention to and study of the women in the sport who came before her, and she draws on their stories for inspiration and improvement. She has described her career as a journey, and we are happy to be with her on that journey.”

Known for her drive and optimism, the 27-year-old Stackhouse is a graduate of Stanford University, where she was a four-time All American. Her golfing days began when she was just a toddler and her father cut down a set of clubs for her. At age 17, she was the youngest African-American woman to earn a spot in the field at the U.S. Open.

“I'm very excited about working with Empower Retirement and kicking off our relationship in my hometown of Atlanta,” said Stackhouse. “Like Empower, I'm passionate about helping people understand they have the chance to succeed in every stage of their life. That’s a common value we share, and I’m excited about what’s ahead.”

The partnership with Stackhouse will include various engagement and social opportunities with Empower clients and partners.

“Mariah’s positive energy and focus on constant improvement make her a great brand ambassador for Empower. We share those characteristics and values,” said Stephen Jenks, Empower Retirement CMO. “She is a role model for girls and boys interested in the sport of golf, and she is breaking down barriers with her great skill, style and grace. We are excited to partner with Mariah and watch this incredible athlete’s career.”

The sponsorship with Stackhouse expands Empower’s sports marketing initiatives. Empower has made investments with NFL teams in markets where Empower has a large concentration of associates and a customer base. Empower also has sponsorship deals with LPGA Tour golfer Cheyenne Knight and PGA Tour golfers Brendan Steele, Webb Simpson, Brendon Todd and Robert Streb. In 2019 Empower entered into a 21-year agreement with the Denver Broncos for the naming rights to Empower Field at Mile High.

Empower’s expanded sports marketing program complements the company’s national TV advertising campaign that was launched in 2020 to continue to build brand awareness across audience segments.
