Official Start of $1B Deepening & Widening of the Houston Ship Channel

Top Federal, State and Local Officials Attend Event for generation-defining project

Port Houston, along with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, is holding a major kick-off event officially starting the Billion-dollar expansion and deepening of the 52-mile Houston Ship Channel, Project 11. This infrastructure project should help to more safely and efficiently accommodate the larger import and export container cargo ships and tanker vessels calling the port, generating more jobs and economic activity to the region and state. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ranked the Houston Ship Channel #1 as the busiest waterway in the nation.
