Meridian Scheels’ Grand Opening to Feature Local Slayer Calls in Hunting Department

Slayer Calls’ innovative elk, duck and turkey calls – all made locally by the Eagle, Idaho-based hunting call company – are available to buy in person at Scheels starting April 6.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EAGLE, Idaho, March 28, 2024— Since its inception in 2018, Slayer Calls has operated entirely online. Now, thanks to a new collaboration with national sports retailer Scheels, the Eagle, Idaho-based hunting call company is selling its innovative wares on store shelves.

Scheels, which on April 6 will open its first-ever Idaho outpost at 700 S. Wayfinder Ave. in nearby Meridian, will count an array of Slayer’s locally made elk and waterfowl calls among its many offerings. The company has also begun carrying Slayer calls in-store in Missoula, Montana.

“Last year at the Total Archery Challenge, one of our archery experts met [Slayer CEO Bill Ayer] and got to see firsthand the great products that Slayer has to offer. Our sales team was absolutely blown away,” said Russell Hersee, an assistant store leader for Scheels.

Slayer’s unique set of elk, duck and turkey calls will be on the shelves in the Meridian store.

“We, at Scheels, encourage innovation and forward-thinking, and we love being involved with our community,” Hersee said. “Slayer Calls fits all of those and, with the special place elk hunting has in the hearts of many Montanans and Idahoans, we are excited to begin this journey with Slayer Calls in our Missoula and [Meridian] locations.”

For its part, the Slayer team looks forward to introducing Scheels customers to its products, especially the Enchantress – an easy-to-use, hyper-realistic-sounding call that has quickly become a fan favorite since its initial release. The push call, which hunters nicknamed the “Elk Slayer,” sold out numerous times in 2023.

Scheels will also carry the brand’s recently introduced Clearwater line, which features a first-of-its-kind frame for its seven reeds. Slayer team members, including Ayer, will be attending the Meridian Scheels’ grand opening next month to offer product demonstrations and, of course, talk with shoppers about all things hunting.

Ayer said the Slayer team is eagerly anticipating its partnership with Scheels, in part because of the two companies’ mutual commitment to customer service.

“Like Slayer, Scheels brings a family focus to the retail industry with quality and customer service at the heart of what they do,” Ayer said. “We couldn’t be more excited to showcase our lineup of game calls in two Scheels locations this year.”

About Slayer Calls: CEO Bill Ayer founded Slayer Calls in 2018 in Eagle, Idaho. The longtime hunters and expert callers at Slayer are obsessed with crafting the best duck, goose, turkey and elk calls, all made in America.
