Exploring the Role of Distribution: PCVA Gets Its Products to Customers

Picture this: you’re at a store and feeling a bit thirsty, so you head over to one of the fridges and grab your favorite Pepsi product – easy! But have you ever considered how that product gets to the store, and all of the logistics that go on behind the scenes? We’re here to tell you all about it.

So, how exactly do we get our products to our customers?

The process includes the following important elements:

• Sales team sells the product to consumers

• Production makes and bottles the product

• The quality lab ensures that the product is up to Pepsi-quality standards before shipping

• The loading team takes the finished product and loads it onto delivery trucks

• Delivery drivers deliver the product to the stores

Once the driver reaches the destination, they are responsible for unloading the products and bringing them to the store. The product is then either stocked on shelves, placed in coolers and refrigerators or built into a display. While it may seem simple, there are a lot of ins and outs to this process to ensure our customers are happy and satisfied with our product.

At PCVA, we produce a wide variety of different products at our plant in Charlottesville, Virginia. As of October 2023, we can produce 52 different products in our Charlottesville facility, this includes bottles, cans, and Bag-in-a-Box syrup concentrate for Fountain machines. We distribute 555 different products across the various package sizes and containers. While we produce many of our carbonated beverages at our bottling facility, all of our non-carbonated products (as well as some additional carbonated brands) are actually sourced from other manufacturers. Once produced, they are shipped to us to then distributed throughout Central Virginia.

If you’ve ever found that a product you enjoy isn’t available at your neighborhood store, don’t give up! We have plenty of products for you to choose from and can distribute to certain areas! Simply let the store manager know and request that the product is provided at that location in the future.
