“Roy's Daughters in an Age of Despots” Sees the Lives of Three Family Members Intertwined in a Dramatic Historical Fashion

By: WebWire

ReadersMagnet featured Honor Mamath's fictional historical drama, “Roy's Daughters in an Age of Despots”, at their book display for the 2022 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center last June 24-27, 2022.

“Roy's Daughters in an Age of Despots” explored the lives of three people: Roy Sanders and his two daughters, Sarah and Rita. Roy works for the State Department during the height of the Cold War threats and in the aftermath of a South American revolt. Sarah and Rita have different personalities and experience their own trials as young adults.

Sarah is a young wife traveling to Germany, while Rita is a soon-to-be businesswoman. Before she can begin her career, Rita comes across Alejandro. Alejandro was in one of the revolutions, although it is unknown whether it was the one in Cuba or Argentina. Roy can see the dangers lurking from within the Berlin Wall and the missile threat from Cuba. Roy needs to keep himself collected as he is urged to support the newly elected President John F. Kennedy with a mission to maintain world peace.

The story asked its audience, “How do tyrants, both international and ordinary, affect the everyday lives of human beings?” This is the ideology that the author, Honor Mamath, wrote at the forefront of her story.

The book is available at the ReadersMagnet bookstore. The author also has a website that contains information about all of her works, Honormamath.com
