Rick Karl, who once practiced law at Cobb Cole in the 1980s, has returned to the firm. Karl left the firm to become the Vice President and General Counsel to a software firm that would grow to become Medical Manager Corporation, a NASDAQ-traded company. He was chief legal officer of the company as they conducted its initial public offering, a secondary public offering, over 170 acquisitions of independent software vendors, and an ultimate merger with WebMD Corporation.
His government experience includes service as the City Attorney for the City of South Daytona, Assistant County Attorney for Volusia County, and Director of Aviation and Economic Resources for Volusia County. Karl served as the Airport Director for the Daytona Beach International Airport for over a decade where he oversaw more than $93 million in capital improvements, record growth in passenger traffic, and the complete renovation of the passenger terminal.
Karl returned to the firm in November 2021 and his practice includes administrative law, aviation law, contracts, general corporate law, local government law, dispute resolution, and mediation.
