Groomer’s Seafood Celebrates 130 Years in Texas’ Seafood Industry

By: Get News
The family-owned company entered the seafood industry in 1892 and today has grown from small-town fishermen out of Port Isabel, Texas, into the largest seafood provider in all of South Texas.

San Antonio, TX – Groomer’s Seafood, a premier destination for the freshest fish and seafood in South and Central Texas, has announced that it is celebrating 130 years in the seafood industry during the month of October, which is also National Seafood Month in the United States.

Founded in 1892 from the efforts of small-town fishermen out of Port Isabel, Texas, Groomer’s Seafood has grown into one of Texas’ finest seafood operations. Today, the company reins as the largest seafood provider in all of South Texas as it continually operates from one generation to the next and proves its world-class reputation for fresh fish and seafood to customers across the region.

Groomer’s Seafood sells its seafood products directly to restaurants, hotels, and other businesses across South and Central Texas, and has preserved for decades, including during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. In recent years, the company has expanded its business model by adding retail space to its commercial business and launching a shore-to-door sister company, Fresh Fish Fast, that is committed to providing affordable, fresh, and customizable seafood subscriptions to Americans nationwide. The unique offering introduces a build-a-box option for consumers looking to brighten their dinner plates with fresh, nutrient-rich fish and decide what seafood items to order and when.

“After 130 years operating Groomer’s Seafood, we owe a debt of gratitude to the many clients and customers who have regularly chosen us to serve their fresh seafood needs,” remarked Blake Groomer of Groomer’s Seafood. “We are grateful for the support we received through the COVID-19 pandemic, and we ask that you join us in celebrating National Seafood Month on our 130-year anniversary this October with special promotions on our most popular seafood items,” they added.

Throughout the month of October, Groomer’s Seafood will personally celebrate National Seafood Month by running specials both online and in-store at its San Antonio-based seafood market. These highly anticipated specials will help thank supporters for over 130 years of loyalty and support, which helped grow Groomer’s Seafood from the small-town operation it began as. Walk-in, curbside, and delivery orders will be available for Groomer’s Seafood’s premier fresh seafood, including signature large snow crab clusters, lobster trios, and Louisiana blue crabs.

“My family looks forward to continuing to serve South and Central Texas, including communities in Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and more, for many generations to come,” said Blake Groomer.
