Greasezilla On Pace to Double Industry Presence in 2023

By: PRLog

Propelled by increasing sales and favorable market conditions, Downey Ridge Environmental Company is already on track for a record 2023 with new installations, joint ventures and a booming biofuel industry.

LANSING, W.Va. - Feb. 3, 2023 - PRLog -- Downey Ridge Environmental Company, developer of Greasezilla fats, oils and grease (FOG) separation and processing systems, forecasts another year of accelerated growth based on a strong 2022 and soaring interest from Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies. Expanding beyond equipment sales, Greasezilla has begun to roll out joint venture sites with entities in the water infrastructure, landfill and clean energy sectors.

Greasezilla's proven ability to lower operational costs, increase revenue through collected disposal fees and sale of biofuel, and contribute to a more sustainable world has propelled its popularity and momentum across multiple industries. Woodard & Curran and other prominent wastewater engineering and operations companies are incorporating Greasezilla into design upgrades for wastewater treatment facilities across the country. Additionally, biodiesel refineries are contracting with Downey Ridge to acquire Greasezilla's low carbon intensity, RIN-qualified Brown Grease advanced biofuel (ABF) to supplement their feedstocks.

"Downey Ridge is doubling its growth year-over-year and is now co-locating systems with cities and waste processing firms across the country," said Brian Levine, EVP of Downey Ridge Environmental Company. "We continue to invest in R&D to tackle FOG sources still reliant upon landfills for disposal. Not only are these sources discarding a highly sought after biofuel, but they are doing so at great expense. With the number of new systems coming online each year, Greasezilla is well on its way to becoming the largest harvester and aggregator of Brown Grease for the marine fuel, biodiesel, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel sectors."

Greasezilla initially stormed into the wastewater industry in 2016 with its ecological and profitable FOG separation system. As sites incorporated Greasezilla into their operations, its value became evident. Greasezilla effectively diverts grease trap waste and used cooking oil (UCO) from the waste stream and processes it into ABF for reuse in the biofuel industry, while creating batter for compost or anaerobic digestion, and water ready for wastewater treatment plant headworks. The ecological process helps to mitigate landfill practices and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Downey Ridge finished 2022 on a high note, with newly operational Greasezilla installations in Florida, Arkansas, Maryland, South Carolina and Tennessee, and multiple systems slated for North Carolina, California, Texas, Arizona, New England and the Tri-State area. Other notable milestones include:

  • RIN-eligible credits: In June, the EPA expanded the list of feedstocks available for RIN credits under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) that includes Greasezilla ABF. As a RIN-qualified feedstock, Greasezilla ABF offers biofuel producers a low carbon intensity feedstock that generates government compliance credits and lowers production costs.
  • Top Product of the Year: For the second year in a row, Modern Pumping Today selected Greasezilla as a Top Product that speaks to the industry's needs for "efficiency, reliability and innovation."
  • UCO refining and blending: In addition to grease trap waste, Greasezilla systems are now being used to process UCO into an exceptional low-moisture Yellow Grease advanced biofuel feedstock. Sites are also maximizing the value of Greasezilla's Brown Grease ABF by blending UCO with Brown Grease.
  • System Features: Downey Ridge announced further automation, a patent pertaining to its advanced biofuel offtake and a customized biofuel storage system.
